An old-fashioned treat that's a good recipe to make ahead.
8 cups puffed wheat
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1/2 cup syrup or honey
3 tsp cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
Using a large pot, boil sugar, butter, syrup and cocoa for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and stir in the vanilla and puffed wheat.
Pat the mixture into a 9 x 12' cake pan, and allow to cool. Cut into squares.
