A sweet, nutty treat for festive occasions. Better hide it from the kids!
3/4 cup granulated sugar (175 ml)
1/2 cup corn syrup (125 ml)
1/4 cup butter (50 ml)
6 cups corn flakes cereal (1.5L)
1 cup salted mixed nuts or unblanched almonds (250 ml)
- Combine sugar, corn syrup and butter in a large, heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is completely dissolved and mixture starts to boil. Remove from heat.
- Add cereal and nuts. Stir until well coated.
- Spread mixture evenly over buttered cookie sheet to about 1/4" thickness. Bake at 300° F (150° C) for 20-25 minutes. Cool.
- Break into pieces and store in airtight container.
- Hide from the kids!
