Candied Popcorn

Popcorn and nuts held together with a candy coating. Yum!

12 -14 cups popped popcorn
1 2/3 cups pecan halves
2/3 cups sliced almonds
1 1/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 cup margarine or butter

  1. Mix popcorn and nuts in a large bowl.
  2. Cook sugar, syrup and margarine together to 280° F. (soft crack stage). Stir in vanilla.
  3. Pour syrup mixture over popcorn and nuts; mix well.
  4. Spread on a baking sheet and break into pieces when cool.

Variation: Substitute almond extract, coconut extract or even hazelnut liqueur instead of vanilla.
